It aims to make all National Highways free of railway level crossings by 2019. This is being done to prevent the frequent accidents and loss of lives at level crossings. In order to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic, replacement of all the Level Crossings on National Highways by ROBs/RUBs and replacement or widening or strengthening of weak and narrow bridges under a scheme Setu Bharatam
